A career public policy and corporate affairs specialist with direct experience of the legislative process at national level and regional local government, Karl has sat at the intersection of corporate and public policy for 30 years devising and overseeing campaigns for critical stakeholder engagement and cross border actions.

Karl's sector experience includes transport, infrastructure, planning, cyber security and industrial strategy advice and crisis management expertise.

He helped design and staff the City of London's response to disinformation on London's financial sector in the run-up to the launch of the ECB, owning a global network of PR agencies to execute a rebuttal operation. A career as a business and management consultant followed, seeing him leverage his public affairs experience into corporate and institutional client output.

At Transport for London (TfL), the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA), TullettPrebon, The CLA, a Canadian Angel investor and at Initiate, Karl specialised in managing engagement programmes and public consultations on sensitive issues including advising the corporate strategy team at the SRA on the South East of England Rail Franchise process, and working with TfL on projects to increase capacity across their networks.

Karl was MP for the City of Lincoln twice: 2010-2017 and 2019-2024. Over a 12-year parliamentary career Karl served on the Speaker's Committee for the Electoral Commission, All Party Parliamentary Groups (chairing some of them), and was elected and re-elected by MPs to both the Transport Select Committee and Exiting the EU Select Committee, and the 1922 Executive. He served as a Transport Minister, and building on his experience at the Corporation of London he was seen as an expert on SMEs, on local government in general and on planning and transport challenges facing Local Government in particular.

Since leaving Parliament Karl has returned to full-time commercial consultancy and corporate affairs, and is a Board adviser at privately held companies in the technology and cyber security sectors.
