Harriet Ruddy

Senior Counsel
Resilience and executive performance

For over fifteen years Harriet worked in banking and financial services. She began in London at Deutsche Bank, establishing a Europe-wide press office function before moving to the bank's New York office to lead investment banking communications. She went on to the UK's leading private equity firm, 3i, and then to The NASDAQ Stock Market, where she ran EMEA communications; including senior management team (SMT) scheduling at the World Economic Forum in Davos each year.

Over those years, one recurring pattern became impossible to ignore.  High-value strategies almost always carried career-altering, often unintended consequences, for the very people driving them through.

The in-house teams meant to help senior leaders navigate the pressure were rarely at the top table until late in the transaction, by which time they were poorly placed to offer meaningful support. The commercial cost was as real as the human one: leaders under strain make weaker decisions, and communicate them less well, at exactly the moments that matter most.

That insight reshaped Harriet’s work. Drawing on her years at the heart of the financial services sector and of corporate transactions, she now designs bespoke programmes that equip senior management teams to perform under acute pressure.  At their core is a practical, physiological approach; teaching leaders to use breathing to regulate their response to stress and to stay clear-headed and decisive when the stakes are highest. Delivered discreetly and tailored to each situation, the programmes are built to keep leaders performing and deals on track through the most demanding times.
